Community Council Elections

Dear GTS Community, Serving on the Community Council is a wonderful and fulfilling way to serve the GTS Community and have a voice in the daily life of the Close. Here is a list of the Community Council - Officers and Responsibilities.

Nominations for the 2012-2013 GTS Community Council will be open for 2 weeks beginning Monday, September 17 at 8:30 a.m. and closing Sunday, September 30 at 5:30 p.m. Elections are scheduled to be held on Tuesday, October 16 from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Each faculty member, student, spartner, and staff member will be allowed to vote once. Absentee ballots must be requested, by email, to the election manager no later than Wednesday, October 10, 2012 and returned by Monday, October 15, 2012.

Nomination forms will be on the bulletin board in the Mail Room in the Moore Building. You may nominate someone for an office, or you may nominate yourself. In order for nominations to be valid, the person must accept the nomination by their signature on the nomination form. After the nomination closes, prior to the election, each nominee will be asked to submit a picture and answer some questions supplied by the election manager. This material will be compiled by the election manager and will be sent to the GTS community prior to the election.

Please note the change in the Community Council by-law for the election:

Though a member of the community may be nominated for more than one elected position, he or she may only accept one nomination and run in one contest for a seat on the Community Council.  (please note: positions on the Academic Affairs Committee and representatives to the Board of Trustees are NOT considered Community Council seats)

We will need volunteers to staff the election poll on Tuesday, October 16. A sign-up  form with specific time slots will be in the Mailroom in the Moore Building. You are not eligible to work the election poll if you are running for a position.

Please feel free to contact the election manager, Mike Rau (, with any questions.

Cheers, Mike Rau Vice-President GTS Community Council
