A brand new room is being decorated for the ministries of spiritual care on the Close, including spiritual direction and holistic therapy sessions! Beginning tomorrow, many spiritual care ministries of the seminary's Center for Christian Spirituality and the Wellness Program will take place in the new Spirituality Room located on the ground floor the Moore building, across from the mailroom. The room is the second to your right after you enter through the main door, just past Fr. Robert Wright’s office. This space is accessible, private, and close to the public restrooms in the Reception area on the ground floor of Seabury Hall. The room is still a little bare, but will be decorated more warmly throughout the Michaelmas term. Kathleen Ullman will be the first minister to use the new space, offering sessions of CranioSacral Therapy and Reflexology on Friday mornings. What is Spiritual Direction? Spiritual direction is about holy companionship as you grow in relationship with God. A spiritual director is someone with whom you can speak confidentially and honestly about your experiences of God, who will accompany you as you explore your spirituality, and to whom you can be accountable in your spiritual disciplines. A spiritual director will listen as you share your interior life, notice how God is present for you, teach and encourage you to try new ways of praying, and help you discern God’s good purposes for you. GTS is blessed by the ministries of five spiritual directors who regularly visit the Close. Any member of the GTS community—student, professor, staff member, or family member—is welcome to meet occasionally or regularly (usually once a month) with a spiritual director. This ministry is a gift from the seminary to you.
