Our first Inter-Seminary Dialogue event of the year will take place this Thursday at the Jewish Theological Seminary (3080 Broadway) from 7 PM until roughly 9 PM. This event will be purely social, a chance to greet one another at the start of this new academic year and discuss exciting ideas for future ISD events. A kosher, vegetarian main dish will be provided in addition to other sides dishes and goodies. As you read last week, the Inter-Seminary Dialogue meets generally one evening each month during the school year at one of the local seminaries. Those participating this year are Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion, Yeshivat Chovevei Torah, Yeshivat Maharat, Academy for Jewish Religion, Saint Joseph's Seminary, Saint Vladmir's Orthodox Theological Seminary, General Theological Seminary, and Union Theological Seminary. There are no membership requirements, we simply come together with others who are interested in a dialogue about common interests.
This is a wonderful opportunity to expand our horizons and meet students from other local seminaries to share information about our respective faith traditions and to compare our seminary experiences and life journeys. ALL interested students are invited and encouraged to attend. Please come and bring only your interest and curiosity!
We will meet together at the 21st Street gate and depart at 6:00pm to walk to 7th Ave and 23rd St where we will take the Uptown "1" train, getting off at 116th Street. From there it is a short walk to JTS.
The next ISD event will be held at Union Theological Seminary on October 24th.
Walt Kindergan is the GTS student coordinator and Professor Bob Owens is the faculty advisor to the group. If you have questions or comments, please see Walt.
