It may not be Whoopie Goldberg breaking out into song with her all-nun choir, but this is arguably the stuff movies are made of. In this case it is real-life GTS seminarian, Tim Carr (M.Div., '13), who has been working with a struggling parish, St. John's Episcopal Church, Union City, NJ, to open a thrift shop. Through the hard work of Tim and all those at St. John's, they opened the thrift store this past weekend and netted over $900. The income from this volunteer operation will help fund reopening the parish for Sunday worship in its urban setting, and continued revenue may also fund a pantry for those in the neighborhood who may need to stretch their food budget. Good work, Tim!
