The oldest and youngest clergy of the Diocese of the Rio Grande have discovered that they are also the oldest and youngest living alumni of GTS! The Rev. Albert "Al" W. Tarbell, Class of 1959, and the Rev. Deacon Michael Peter Drinkwater, Class of 2012, are both serving at the Cathedral Church of St. John in Albuquerque, NM., under the leadership of the Very Reverend Dean Mark Goodman, also a General grad, Class of 1991.

Tarbell, who turned 102 on Christmas Eve 2011, is our oldest living alumnus. He has considered the Cathedral his home since 1958 and is now Canon Emeritus. Before entering the seminary, he was both a dancer on Broadway and an intelligence officer during WWII.

Drinkwater is our youngest living alumnus; in fact, although he joined the Cathedral on July 1 of this year, his ordination to the transitional diaconate had to wait until his birthday on July 29, when he gained the canonically required age of 24. He is now Canon for Outreach and Formation and is expected to be ordained to the Priesthood in February 2013.
