GTS Community is Welcome at Special Liturgies for Practical Peacebuilding

To the General Seminary Community: You are cordially invited to the special liturgies being held later this week, January 10-12, 2013,  in The Chapel of the Good Shepherd as part of the Practical Peacebuilding program:  

Morning Prayer, Thursday through Saturday, 8:00am The Rev. Dr. James Reho, Officiant

Holy Eucharist, Thursday, 11:30am The Rev. K. Jeanne Person, Presider The Rt. Rev. Mark MacDonald, Preacher National Indigenous Bishop, The Anglican Church of Canada

The Morning Prayer services will be contemplative and thematically oriented towards themes of peacebuilding and reconciliation. The Holy Eucharist will includes readings and prayers for First Nations traditions, and the Thanksgiving for Creation and Redemption from The New Zealand Prayer Book.

Designed to provide practical skills in the work of conflict transformation, Practical Peacebuilding is a new ecumenical continuing education program jointly offered by GTS and Candler School of Theology. About 50 people will be on the Close for the program, including Candler Professors Luther E. Smith Jr. and Ellen Ott Marshall, who are leading the program. Also present will be two keynote speakers, Bp. MacDonald and the Rev. Dr. Bernard Lafeyette, Jr., a respected civil rights advocate and leading authority on nonviolent social change.
