Ecclesia Ministries of New York is an outdoor church ministry that forms and supports communities of faith in public places throughout the city, including Madison Square Park near the seminary, with an emphasis on creating communities made largely of people who live on the streets and who have little access to other resources. The communities comes together for Sunday Eucharist, then share a simple meal prepared by local "housed" churches. Ecclesia will offer a Saturday morning training on February 16, 2013, for volunteers and others interested in ministry with those on the margins. The training will take place at Judson Memorial Church, 55 Washington Square South, between Thompson and Sullivan Streets, opposite Washington Square Park, in Greenwich Village. The training, from 9:30am to 11:30am, will include guidance about how to engage the Ecclesia community and an introduction to the Ecclesia park settings. No registration is required. To learn more or express interest, contact the Rev. Seamus Campbell, pastor of the Madison Square Park congregation.
