Upcoming Retreat Explores Role of Social Justice in Ministry

Have you ever wondered what role social justice plays in your ministry? The Office of the Chaplain, Deployment and Formation will sponsor a Social Justice Retreat for GTS students. This retreat will explore activism in ministry by examining the life story of an Episcopalian martyr, Jonathan Daniel. Come to this workshop to examine the role activism plays in your ministry and begin to set the groundwork for activist relations in your current or future communities.

Facilitator Bios:

Timothy Connell is a 2011 graduate in the Masters in Applied Theatre, CUNY – SPS. He has been working as an applied theatre practitioner/teaching artist in the NYC area creating original pieces of theatre with various groups from elementary aged young people, to middle school students to senior citizens.  Most recently he was the theatre director/acting teacher for Urban Stages Summer Theatre Camp. As a professional theatre artist, he has worked as an actor, singer, dancer, choreographer, director and storyteller on Broadway, Off- & Off Off Broadway, National & International Tours and Regional Theatre across the country.

Maggie Keenan-Bolger is a graduate from the City University of New York where she earned her Masters in Applied Theatre using theatre to activate, educate and facilitate. She is currently an MFA candidate at Goddard College where she is doing extensive research into queer and feminist populations using theatre as a medium for community building.  She has worked for a number of New York arts organizations including Urban Stages, The Creative Arts Team and The Leadership Program.  She has worked with a variety of communities including LGBT homeless youth, seniors, women and students in the New York Public School system. An accomplished performer, Maggie has also performed on and off-Broadway, has been seen on The Good Wife and is in the upcoming movie Admission with Tina Fey and Paul Rudd.
