Come laugh with him and with the many who are coming, including you, a healthy number of GTS alumni/ae, and newcomers to the seminary! Fr. James Martin, SJ, a Jesuit priest nationally renowned teacher and author in the spiritual life, will offer the 2013 Kay Butler Gill Lecture in Christian Spirituality here at General Seminary this Thursday, April 11, at 7:00pm! Father Martin is the culture editor of America, the national Catholic magazine, and his books include the newly published Between Heaven and Mirth and the best-selling The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything. His lecture is entitled Rejoice Always: Joy, Humor and Laughter in the Spiritual Life. Who says religion needs to be gloomy? He will speak on how true faith leads to joy, how the saints and spiritual masters used humor, and how laughter is a gift from God.
Thank you to Michael Meaney, who is planning and running the reception after the lecture, and Mary Julia Jett, who will be running the book-signing table after the lecture.
So worth your time!
