Laurie Brock (’02) Invites Journey of Faith in New Book

The Rev. Laurie M. Brock (Class of 2002), has co-authored a new book with The Rev. Mary Koppel. Titled Where God Hides Holiness:  Thoughts on Grief, Joy, and the Search for Fabulous Heels, the work shares the joy, humor, surprise, grief, and messiness when God invites us to strip away the personas of perfect priest or perfect Christian and to rediscover what is sacred and genuine about the authenticity of ourselves and our faith, even in the deep wounds of betrayal, disappointment, and sadness. The book relates both common and unique experiences as women and priests as the reader is invited to join them on a humorous, sad, and sometimes startling journey of faith.  With a genuine no-holds-barred approach and a unique style, the authors focus on a three-year period of their lives and ministries with wit, revelation, and self-discovery as they unpack the dirtiness of failure, the messiness of life, the frailty behind our personas we present to the world, and the joy of resurrection as new life, with the lessons learned, opens to us.

Laurie is currently Rector of St. Michael the Archangel Episcopal Church in Lexington, KY., and The Rev. Koppel is Priest-in-Charge at Grace Episcopal Church in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The book is now available at bookstores or from Amazon or Cokesbury or through Church Publishing.
