On June 26, 2013, The General Theological Seminary welcomed a group of high school students from
in Clarkesville, Georgia, who came to New York City on religious pilgrimage. Led by Jeff Mann, the parish's Youth and Young Adults Coordinator, the pilgrims wished to see the first seminary of the wider Episcopal Church, of which they are members. Many had never been to New York City before. The pilgrims were delighted to learn about the seminary as they visited the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, the
, and the lovely grounds of the Close. They asked many questions and were especially interested in the Seminary's geothermal system, which has reduced the Seminary’s carbon footprint by over 1,400 tons of CO2 emissions annually. The pilgrims requested to have their photograph taken next to one of the geothermal well covers on Tenth Avenue. Here it is!
