  • Fri., Oct. 25   “Life After Graduation” – The Barnabas Project   8:30 – 4pm Seabury Auditorium

The transition from seminary to a congregation can be quite a challenge!  You are invited to join an Episcopal Church Foundation (ECF)--GTS workshop on navigating the deployment process, skills for leading congregations, and practical financial and administrative issues which you will need to be aware of as you enter your first call.

ECF’s The Barnabas Project offers Parish Life Education for seminarians, new clergy and lay leaders of the Episcopal Church. In the Acts of the Apostles, Barnabas recognizes the leadership potential of Paul, helps incorporate him in the community and culture of the original leadership of the Church and empowers and supports him on his journey and in his ministry. In a similar fashion, ECF’s program supports the ministry of newly ordained priests and lay leaders by providing them with training, skill development, best practices and other resources in the areas of leadership and parish finance and administration in a practical, faith-based approach.

  • Tue., Nov. 12     Interview Skills Workshop          1:30 – 3pm           Seabury Auditorium
  • Tue., Nov. 19     Resume Writing Workshop         1:30 – 3pm           Seabury Auditorium

These workshops provide an overview of the nuts and bolts skills necessary for putting yourself in front of a prospective employer. The workshops are led by Bradford Agry, GTS Alum ’09, and a career transition/executive coach and corporate trainer based in New York City. A member of CREDO’s Vocational Resources team, Brad has developed and taught career strategy courses at a number of congregations including his own parish, St. Bartholomew’s.

December – January

You prepare your resume for circulation to potential employers in parishes and dioceses.

  • Feb. 14, 2014       Office for Transition Ministry Workshop      1:30 – 4pm Seabury Auditorium

The Episcopal Church Office for Transition Ministry guides individuals (both lay and ordained), congregations, and institutions through their times of discernment and calling. This workshop with the Rev. Victoria Duncan, missioner for Transition Ministry, is an invaluable introduction to the resources the church can offer.
