Junior Libbie Schrader has begun a rosary prayer group at The General Theological Seminary. Each Saturday morning at 11:00 AM, right after Morning Prayer, participants will meet on the chapel steps. From there (depending on the weather) the group will either go inside to pray or will sit on the lawn for this beautiful contemplative practice. All members of the community, as well as friends and neighbors outside the community, are invited to participate. The rosary is a meditative form of prayer that dates back to the Middle Ages. Libbie notes that through the simple act of repeating prayers (usually the Hail Mary and the Our Father) over a series of beads, participants experience a direct and profound path to peace, calm, and a sense of their own sacredness. She adds that the rosary is also a beautiful way to honor the mother of Jesus, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and to show her our love and devotion.
If you would like to participate (or if you have a request for a different start time), please send an e-mail to Libbie Schrader at firstname.lastname@example.org. The rosary group takes about 45 minutes and will continue to meet during Fall Break. We hope to see you on Saturday morning!
