The Rev. Marcello Davitti (Class of 1975) known as Archimandrite Mark, Dean of the Clergy of the Russian Orthodox Church in Italy, died last August. His death was announced on August 20 by Archbishop Mark of Yegoryevsk, Administrator of the parishes of the Moscow Patriarchate in Italy. Davitti was born in 1938 in Florence, Italy to one of the old families of the city. After completing his studies at the Gregorian University in Rome, he came to the United States. Then, after studying at General, he returned to Italy and became rector of the parish of Saint-Basile-le-Grand in Bologna.
The announcement of Archimandrite Mark’s death noted that through his efforts, the Orthodox parish of the Protection of the Most Holy Mother of God in Ravenna was created.
