Beyond The Close: Scheherazade Initiative Concert on January 26

On January 26th at 8 PM at Carnegie Hall,  Music for Life International presents an all Scheherazade concert Celebrating the Resilience of Women and Girls in the Face of Violence. Composers Ravel and Rimsky-Korsakov were inspired by Scheherazade, the narrator of One Thousand and One Arabian Nights, who neutralized violence against herself and enriched global folklore for centuries. The Scheherazade Initiative is a partnership with the United Nations Trust Fund to End Violence against Women to raise funds and public awareness for some of the world's most catalytic, innovative, and promising approaches to eliminating gender-based violence.

This concert will be conducted and organized by George Mathew, husband of GTS student Bowie Snodgrass.  For tickets, please see: www.carnegiehall.org/Calendar/2015/1/26/0800/PM/The-Scheherazade-Initiative/. Student tickets are also available at the box office.
