Elizabeth Schrader, an M.A. student at The General Theological Seminary, has been accepted to present a paper at the Society of Biblical Literature (SBL) Mid-Atlantic meeting. Her study, Significant instability around the figure of Martha of Bethany in the Fourth Gospel: A text-critical study, examines the text transmission of the figure of Martha of Bethany throughout the Fourth Gospel in over 100 of the oldest extant Greek and Latin witnesses. It was inspired by significant instability around Martha's presentation in the most ancient witness of John 11-12, Papyrus 66, from ca. 200 C.E. The meeting will be held on March 5-6, 2015 and is jointly sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Region of the Society of Biblical Literature and the American Academy of Religion.
