The Rev. Katy Herron-Piazza (Class of 2006) has been called as the new Priest in Charge of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Weston, Connecticut, her hometown. She most recently served over two years as interim pastor for Holy Trinity Episcopal in Pawling, New York. Before that, she served on the clergy staff at St. John’s Church in Larchmont, New York, for five years. Herron-Piazza graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1994, and received a master’s degree in public administration from Cleveland State in 1997. She served the state of Ohio as a performance auditor, trying to help municipalities run more efficiently and effectively. During that time, she also volunteered in soup kitchens and tutored groups in Cleveland with fellow Episcopalians. In 2003, she left Ohio to follow her call to ordained ministry.
During her years at The General Theological Seminary, she met and married her husband, Mario. They have two sons, Jonathan and Christopher. Emmanuel will host a formal reception on April 26 to welcome Herron-Piazza in her new pastoral role.
