Book by Sunny Buchman ’00 Raises Funds and Awareness for Alzheimer’s

Sandra Lee (Sunny) Buchman, Class of 2000, has written a personal account about facing the realities of Alzheimer’s suffered by her husband, the Rev. Paul Buchman, with a focus on finding joy and making the most of the very special time you have. Precious Window of Time: Our Journey with Alzheimer’s Disease is a true story with universal application. The Buchmans wanted other people in similar situations to gain from their experiences. The book is simultaneously an inspirational and straightforward guide for caregivers. It speaks to the realities of Alzheimer’s Disease with a focus on the positive side and offers practical suggestions for strategies that allowed the Buchmans to continue to live happily together in a joyous and mutually reqarding relationship.

Buchman's main strength is recognizing a need for, and then creating and implementing, programs that enhance the quality of life of others. A native of Glens Falls, New York, Sunny has founded and served as the first president of the Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council, created and implemented an arts program for Vietnam Veterans, and she facilitates Spiritual Journey groups. In addition, she has been deeply involved in projects related to Judaism and Jewish education.
