To the GTS Community,
It’s time to start thinking about the community vegetable garden!
The Children’s Garden childcare center will be starting seeds to plant outside when the weather warms up, and we would love to have the community involved again. We will again have a mix of seeds available for people to pickup to start in their own homes.
When the weather gets warm enough, usually around May 1, the seeds will be blessed at a Tuesday Community Eucharist and we'll process them to the garden to be planted.
Please pick up a seed, a pot, some soil, and some instructions in the area around the coffee station in St. Lydia’s lounge beginning February 29.
People are welcome to take more than one, but please wait until Wednesday or Thursday to pick up additional “kits,” as we want to make sure everyone who wants to grow something has the chance to participate. There are twenty seed kits, including peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, herbs, and marigold seeds...each with their own instructions.
Last year was our first run of this particular setup, and the garden was certainly productive, but gardening is always a bit of trial and error. With some new soil and efforts to better control erosion, we’re hoping for an even more beautiful and productive garden this year! If anyone wants to get more involved with watering, weeding, or otherwise tending the garden, we’re always looking for help!
with any questions.
