A New Call for Mark Fitzhugh '01

The Rev. Mark L. Fitzhugh, Class of 2001, is the new Rector of St. John’s Lattingtown, Locust Valley, New York. He served most recently at St. Simon's on the Sound Episcopal Church in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.  Previously, he served for seven years as assistant to the rector at Christ Church in Greenwich, Connecticut. In 2001, he was ordained to the priesthood in the Diocese of Alabama by the Rt. Rev. Henry N. Parsley, Jr. and served two years as Rector of the Church of the Messiah in Heflin, Alabama.  While at The General Theological Seminary, he served under the direction of the Rev. Barbara Crafton at St. Clement's Church in Manhattan, and the Rev. Bill Tully at St. Bartholomew's Church on Park Avenue.

Before entering ordained ministry, Fitzhugh worked at the Epilepsy Foundation in Birmingham, Alabama, to help provide special services for young children with disabilities. From 1985 to 1994, he was a writer and Sports Information Assistant at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
