Matthew Buccheri ’15 Appointed Canon in Long Island

The Rt. Rev. Lawrence C. Provenzano, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island, has announced the appointment of Matthew Buccheri, Class of 2015, to the position of Canon for Ministry Development and Parish Support, effective June 6, 2016. Buccheri work will be principally focused on the support and encouragement of the local congregation. He will work closely with clergy and lay leadership, providing support, resources, and insights which will encourage the spiritual and organizational health of the parishes of the diocese.

His work will be especially focused on new and redeveloping congregations, aided parishes, and helping diocesan missioners.

Bucceri was previously an ordained Presbyterian minister and served at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Manhattan. Since becoming an Episcopalian, he has received his S.T.M. from General and is currently a postulant for Holy Orders in the Episcopal Diocese of New York. Bucceri has worked in church planting and has been a coach to church planters and church redevelopers in the New York City area. He is the co-founder and consulting director of Fifth Act Church Planting.
