He had previously been serving as Rector of St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Albany, Georgia, and before that at Grace Church in New York City, and King of Peace Church in Kingsland, Georgia. Weldon grew up in Griffin, Georgia, and attended the University of Georgia in Athens. While in college, he also studied for one year at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany. He is working toward a Doctorate in Scripture and Homiletics at Emory University.

He and his wife, Alison, are the parents of two children, Elizabeth, called “Ella,” and James III.

Weldon hopes to continue the strong tradition of traditional, spiritual, and thoughtful worship at Good Shepherd. He says that he recognized quickly the unique make-up of Good Shepherd, one that was traditional and elegant, while also welcoming and caring. He and his family are looking forward to experiencing the vibrant future of Good Shepherd.
