A New Call for Amanda Gott ‘04

The Rev. Amanda Gott, Class of 2004, is the new rector at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Lincoln, Nebraska. For the past seven years, Gott has been rector of Grace & St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Hamden, Connecticut. Prior to that, she was assistant rector of Church of the Good Shepherd in Nashua, New Hampshire.

Gott is originally from Atlanta and graduated from a high school of performing arts. She majored in religion at Bard College in New York, where she primarily focused on the study of Hinduism.

After a couple of years as an office temp, a front-desk receptionist in a public mental health clinic, a waitress, and a theatrical lighting designer and stage manager, she began seminary and earned a Master of Divinity at the Iliff School of Theology in Denver. She later earned a Master of Sacred Theology at General and was ordained in 2005.

She spent a year as a Chaplain resident at one of Denver’s major hospitals, a year as a kindergarten teaching assistant and has served in several other chaplaincy positions.
