The General Seminary dinner, held on Tuesday July 10, was hosted by St. David’s Episcopal Church in Austin where recent alumnus and dinner host committee member Michael Horvath ‘17 is serving as curate. One of the goals of the dinner differed from years passed: rather than inviting only alumni and friends of the seminary, the host committee intentionally sought to introduce people to General Seminary by covering the ticket costs for alumni and friends who invited a new guest, as well as for the guests themselves. This hospitality was made possible through the generosity of the leader of the host committee, Ellen Tillotson, ’83. Additionally, all full time faculty of General Seminary were present for the dinner and gave a brief introduction of who they are, their field of scholarship, and their experience of the seminary to guests. The dinner was a great success, welcoming 170 guests, the largest General Seminary dinner at convention in recent history.
