IN MEMORIAM: Marcus Rogers ‘66


The Rev. Marcus Brayton Rogers, Class of 1966, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at Fort Hudson Nursing home, Hartford, NY, at the age of 84. A graduate of Curtis High School in Staten Island, he went on to Agriculture School at Cornell University before attending General.

Rogers was ordained to the Diaconate in June of 1966 and to the Priesthood in December of 1966. He served in St. Marks, Augusta, Maine; Christ the King in Stone Ridge; Trinity Church, Bristol, Connecticut and did supply work at various churches in the Diocese of Albany for the past 20 years. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps as a Captain from June 1955 until 1963.

Born on March 4, 1934 in Manhattan, he was the son of the late Fr. Raymond and Marion (McKernon) Rogers. On June 18, 1955, Marcus married June Quattrone at St. Stephen’s Church in Olean.

In addition to his parents, Marcus was predeceased by his daughter, Patty Saul; and his siblings, Fr. Richard Rogers and Janice Jenkins. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, June; his children, Gigi Abbott (Chuck), Mike Rogers and Paul Rogers (Wendy); his grandchildren, Carolyn Burch (Bruce), Stephen Abbott (Angelia), Kevin Abbott, Anne Abbott, Katie Moore (Jonathan), Kayla Weber (Michael), Kaleigh Rogers, Hannah Rogers, Shane Rogers, Nathan Rogers and Camille Rogers; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial Mass was held Friday, Jan. 11, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 35 E. Main Street, Granville.
