A New Call for Jim Jelinek ‘70

The Rt. Rev. James L. Jelinek, Class of 1970, retired Bishop of Minnesota and a former trustee, has been called as Interim Rector of Trinity Church, Newport, Rhode Island. Jelinek will lead the parish until its 31st rector is called to succeed the Rev. Canon Anne Marie Richards, who stepped down in April.

Most recently, Jelinek served as Interim Rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C. Prior to his 17 years as Bishop in the Diocese of Minnesota, Jelinek served as Rector of St. Aidan’s Church in San Francisco, California, and St. Michael and All Angels in Cincinnati, Ohio.

A Wisconsin native, Jelinek graduated from Carthage College in Kenosha before attending General.
