Chapel-lithograph.png

The General Theological Seminary announces a series of interactive discussions for Alumni and Friends, Conversations about General Theological Seminary: Past, Present, and Future, with the Very Rev. Kurt H. Dunkle (Class of 2004), 13th Dean and President, and the Rt. Rev. Clifton Daniel 3rd, Chairman, Board of Trustees. Events have currently been scheduled at the locations below. More dates and locations will be announced throughout the year. As General Seminary launches its complete implementation of The Way of Wisdom for students on the ordination track, we hope you can join us for this opportunity to ask questions and engage in conversation. As we build our future with integrated curriculum, formation, and The Wisdom Year, we are eager to brainstorm ideas about how to best meet the needs of our changing church in our changing world.

Fulton Houses Christmas Party Cancelled

Regretably, the Christmas Party planned for the children and youth of the Fulton Houses has been cancelled.  Hurricane Sandy caused unavoidable delays in planning for this event both here and at Fulton Houses, such that it was no longer feasible to hold the party this year.  Additionally, any fund-raising efforts were delayed and we were unable to obtain a venue in which to hold the event. We have been in discussion with Miguel Acevedo, the Youth Director there, and we may try to put together some sort of fun event for the children in the Spring. The Community Council will discuss this when it reconvenes after the Winter Break.

Thank you to all who volunteered to assist with the party. Miguel asked that you know your support and efforts were greatly appreciated.

Walt Kindergan Community Council President

Inter-Seminary Dialogue at AJR

The next ISD will be at the Academy of Jewish Religion (AJR) in Yonkers on Monday, November 5th.  Light refreshments will be served and good conversation is guaranteed. Since AJR is not so easily reached by public transportation, we will ask for commitments ahead of time in order to try to provide some transportation.  All students who have an interest in interesting discussions with other seminarians are welcome and encouraged to attend.  Please let Walt Kindergan know if you would like to attend.

ISD meets generally one evening each month during the school year at one of the local seminaries.  A few of these are St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Seminary, St. Joseph’s Catholic Seminary, Academy of Jewish Religion, Jewish Theological Seminary, Hebrew Union Seminary, Union Theological Seminary and General Theological Seminary.  There are no membership requirements, we simply come together with others who are interested in a dialogue about common interests.
