Financial Aid Overview
GTS school code: G02726
The GTS Financial Aid office is ready to assist you with the financial aid process and to provide information and forms. GTS students receive financial aid from several sources including:
- GTS Scholarships
- External Grants and Scholarships, including parish and diocesan grants
- Direct Student Loans – Direct Unsubsidized and Direct Plus Loans for Graduate Students
- College Work Study
GTS offers both merit and need-based scholarships. The GTS Scholarship Committee carefully considers each student's request. Financial aid is normally credited to the recipient's account in equal installments at the beginning of the Michealmas (fall) and Easter (spring) terms.
All students applying for GTS scholorship and/or Federal loans must file the U.S. Department of Education Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You will fill out this document online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The FAFSA school code for GTS is G02726. A reminder-students must apply for financial aid each year.
The GTS Financial Aid Office can provide information on other scholarship resources. GTS students are highly successful at garnering outside scholarship awards. Sources include The Society for the Increase of the Ministry, Episcopal Church scholarships for minority students, FTE Ministries and Deaconess House. Students can request information for outside scholarships from the Financial Aid Office. Many students also find scholarship and grant sources on the Internet. The largest, free search engine for these is located at www.fastweb.com.
GTS participates in Federal student aid programs; Direct Unsubsidized Student Loans, Direct Plus Loans for Graduate Student and the Federal Work Study programs. Students are encouraged to go to the Federal governments website: www.StudentAid.gov the most complete information on Federal aid. For Direct Loans. students must be enrolled at least half time (six credits) and complete the FAFSA. For Federal Work Study, students must prove need. Proving need is not required for Direct Unsubsidized Loans or Direct Plus loans. Plus Loans require proof of credit worthiness.
We urge eligible students to apply for Work Study at GTS. The opportunities for work are varied—from assisting in the library, conducting research, assisting the Chaplain’s office, writing and editing and data base management. These opportunities enrich your experience at GTS.
All students requesting GTS scholarships are expected to apply for at least three outside financial aid resources (i.e., grants, scholarships, etc) to supplement the GTS scholarship. M.Div. students are expected to seek support from their Parishes and Dioceses. The Parish and Diocesan grants may be considered two of the three required outside grant resources.
Students receiving GTS scholarships and Federal student loans must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.
