Many of the world’s most entrenched conflicts are among large-scale collective identities centered on religion— Jews, Muslims, and Christians— but often our difficulties in dealing with them are connected to challenges we experience on a smaller-scale, with such aspects of our human identity as gender, sexuality, and reproductive expectations.
