A New Call for Ron Young ‘03

The Rev. Dr. Ronald B. Young, STM ’03, Th.D. ’09, has been called as Rector at Christ Church, Pittsford, NY. He began his service at Church Church  as Assistant Rector in April 2014.

Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Young attended Cornell University majoring in both electrical engineering and political science. He worked as an electrical engineer for nineteen years in the defense industry in research and development and system and policy analyses.

In the 1990s Young began to explore his calling to ministry and received a Master of Divinity degree from Andover Newton Theological School. In 2002 he began doctoral study at General with a focus on the history of the Episcopal Church. He received his Doctor of Theology degree in 2009.

Prior to his call at Christ Church, Young was an adjunct professor of Church History at General and served as a lay assistant in Saint Peter’s Church, Essex Fells for 5 years. He was ordained in the Diocese of Newark and continued to serve Saint Peter’s until his call to Christ Church.

He enjoys travel, sailing, fishing, kayaking, cooking and entertaining, and antiquing.
