A New Call for Brandt Montgomery ’12

The Rev. Dr. Brandt Montgomery, Class of 2012, has been called to serve as the Vicar of St. Mark's Episcopal Church (Lappans Road), Boonsboro, Maryland starting May 14, 2023. Brandt's ministry at St. Mark's will be simultaneous with his ministry as Chaplain of Saint James School, Hagerstown, Maryland. 

Brandt's ordained ministry has primarily consisted of service within academic institutions. He first served as Curate and Assistant Chaplain at Canterbury Episcopal Chapel at the University of Alabama from 2012-2014, then as Chaplain of Ascension Episcopal School in Lafayette, Louisiana from 2014-2019, part of which time he also served as Associate Rector of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension. Brandt has been Chaplain of Saint James School of Maryland since August 1, 2019. He currently serves the Diocese of Maryland as a member of the XV Bishop Transition Committee, Commission on Ministry, Deacon's Board of Examining Chaplains, and as First Clergy Alternate Deputy to the 2024 General Convention. 

Born and raised in Alabama in the Methodist tradition, Brandt became an Episcopalian via the influence of a parochial Episcopal school he attended in his hometown in the Seventh Grade. In addition to his General M.Div., Brandt has a B.A. in Music from the University of Montevallo and a D.Min. from Sewanee: The University of the South.  He currently serves on the Alumni Executive Committee.
