Celebrating Dr. Mohrmann

Dr. Douglas Mohrmann arrived at GTS in Winter 2022 as sabbatical coverage for Dr. Julie Faith Parker. Subsequently, he was retained to teach New Testament courses. He is a versatile scholar with a recently published commentary on LXX Deuteronomy (Brill). Accompanying this focused research on the Septuagint, he has also worked on the theme of spirituality in the time of Jesus and taught a seminar of Paul’s Letter to the Church in Rome. Students have enjoyed the ways in which he combines depth with accessibility.

Dr. Mohrmann is also making the journey to holy orders in the Episcopal Church. Indeed he is combining his teaching and research with a unit of CPE. This has certainly added to his affiliation with students in the classroom. This coming year he will be a Visiting Scholar at Union Theological Seminary.

We are grateful for everything that Dr. Mohrmann has done and wish him all the best in the future.
