IN MEMORIAM: Jeremy Bond ‘62

The Reverend Canon Jeremy W. Bond, OA., Class of 1962, died April 8th, 2022, in Arroyo Grande, CA. This, after living a life of service to multitudes of people in many locations, ultimately sharing that life to the end, with his beloved wife of 59 years, Kathy R. Bartlett-Bond.

Bond’s work within the Episcopal Church began at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, in New York City. He and Kathy married in 1962, began a family, and a 41-year long career in full-time ministry. In that time, following his work in New York City, Jeremy held the role of "Curate" at St. Stephens Cathedral (Harrisburg, PA), a parish priest for St. Paul's Church (Harrisburg, PA), a parish priest for St. Matthew's Church (Sunbury, PA), and finally, while at Sunbury, he also assumed duties as "Vicar" for St. Marks's Church, in Northumberland, PA.

In 2003 Jeremy elected to retire, so as to give back time to Kathy, and start a new chapter in life. In that vein, they moved to California. In life, Jeremy was a loving father, grandfather, and husband. Until the end, he sought involvement in social activities, such as singing in organized groups, playing the trombone in a band, and participating in writing groups. He is survived by Kathy, a daughter, a son (and spouse), and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by another daughter (and her spouse), two brothers, and his parents (including his stepmother). A memorial service was planned for May 23rd, 2022, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, located in Arroyo Grande, CA.
