A New Call for Lucinda Laird ’82

The Very Rev. Lucinda Laird, Class of 1982, has been called as Chaplain of St. George’s Church, Venice, Italy, beginning January 2023. At the end of February, she retired as Dean and Rector of the American Cathedral where she had served since March 2013.

Laird previously served for 15 years as rector of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Louisville, Kentucky, and for 11 years as rector of St. Mark’s Church in Teaneck, New Jersey. She has been active in the national Episcopal Church as a 5-time deputy to General Convention, and as a member of the Standing Commission on Ecumenical Relations.

Laird has also served on the Board of Trustees of General as well as Berea College (Kentucky), and on the faculty of the Preaching Excellence Program. She holds a B.A. from Barnard College, Columbia University, as well as an M.Div. from General. She is a native of New Orleans and makes her permanent home in Kentucky.
