A New Call for Tim Carr ‘13

The Rev. Timothy P. Carr, Class of 2013, has been called as the 27th rector at Christ Episcopal Church, Rockville, MD. Fr. Tim was previously the Priest at All Souls’ Episcopal Church in Miami Beach and St. John’s Church in Boonton, NJ, as well as serving at All Saints Church in Hoboken, NJ and St. Edward the Martyr in NYC.

An active leader in numerous diocesan and interfaith activities, Carr is also a trained as conflict mediator, vocational discernment specialist, an educator in church history, and a congregational growth specialist. Within the wider community, Carr received the Clara Horsley Leadership Award from the Union of Black Episcopalians, and he was honored as Citizen of the Year for his charitable efforts in Boonton, NJ. He served as a chaplain for the Miami-Dade Correctional System, Miami Beach Fire and Rescue, the Boonton Ambulance Squad, and the New Jersey Firemen's Home.

Carr is a graduate of Thomas Edison State University in Trenton, NJ, with a B.S. in Psychology. Before earning his M.Div. from General, he had a career in the cosmetic and fragrance industry, including stints as the Vice President of Sales or Marketing for several well-known brands, such as Yves Saint Laurent, Giorgio Beverly Hills, and Shiseido.

Fr. Tim Carr is married to Dr. Edwin A. Acevedo, who is the principal of a public charter school in D.C., and they have a grown son.
