IN MEMORIAM: S. Dayton Dewey ’79

We have just learned of the death of the Rev. S. Dayton Dewey, Class of 1979, November 10, 2021, at home in England.

Born November 29, 1944, Dewey was a teacher in Syracuse, New York from 1968-1976. After graduation from General and ordination (Deacon, 1979; Priest 1980) he became the associate director of religious services at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City. In 1986 he was called as assistant priest, St. Mary Lew Bow Church, London, and became director of their counseling center in 1989. In 1987 he became a consultant to the Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome Ministry of the Church of England. Dewey was also a lecturer and workshop presenter for the ministry.

Dewey was a member of British Association Counseling, Association Pastoral Care and Counseling, United Kingdom M C, and listed as a noteworthy priest by Marquis Who’s Who.
