IN MEMORIAM: Gary Blumer ’77

The Rev. Gary R. Blumer, Class of 1977, died early Friday morning, September 24, 2021, at Phoebe Richland Health Care Center in Richlandtown, PA., aged 86. Blumer served many churches throughout his years of ministry including Christ Church in LaCross, WI, Our Saviors in Luggerville, WI, St. Margaret's in Park Falls, WI, St. Simeons in Chippewa Falls, WI, Christ Church in Chippewa Falls, WI, Christ Church in New Brunswick, NJ, St. Mary's in Keyport, NJ, Christ Church in Media, PA, St. John's in Norristown, PA, Trinity in Carbondale, PA, St. Mary's in Wind Gap, PA,  and St. Joseph's in West Bangor, PA.

After retiring Blumer attended Christ Episcopal Church in Stroudsburg, PA where he enjoyed worshiping and socializing with the parishioners. Born on August 6, 1935 in Minneapolis, MN, he was the son of the late Charles and Erna (Rischmueller) Blumer. He was an antique collector and enjoyed sculpting. Preceding him in death was a brother, Charles Blumer. Services were held on Wednesday, September 29, at St. Joseph's Episcopal Church, 1440 Verona Ave., Pen Argyl (village of West Bangor) with The Rt. Rev. Kevin D. Nichols officiating.
