IN MEMORIAM: George Bowen ’57

The Rev. Canon George Bowen, Class of 1957, died on February 7, 2023, age 90. He was Rector Emeritus of Grace Church in Newark and a Canon of the Cathedral.

A Requiem in his memory was held Saturday, February 11, 1 PM, at Grace Church.

Bowen served as Curate of Grace, Newark, and then Rector of Trinity, Cliffside Park and Vicar of Grace Chapel, East Rutherford, before returning to Grace, Newark to serve as Rector.

In the wider diocese, he also served on the Trustees, Diocesan Council, the Ecclesiastical Court, the Committee on Camp and Conference Center, the Commission on Communications, and as Archdeacon.
