IN MEMORIAM: Robert Deming ’67

The Rev. Robert E. Deming, Class of 1967, died after a short illness on July 11, 2022. Born January 26, 1942 in Warwick, Rhode Island, he was the son of the late Edwin Albert Deming and Violet Elizabeth Hendrikson Deming Cilley.

Ordained by the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island on June 17, 1967, Deming was the rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Lancaster, NH; The Church of the Good Shepherd in Orange, CT; and an affiliate priest of Christ Church, New Haven. Deming was the Chaplain of the Orange fire and police departments for 28 years and received an outstanding service award from the Orange Chamber of Commerce for personal efforts in NYC following 9/11.

 Deming was the beloved husband of the late Carolyn Evans Deming, father of Elizabeth Anne Deming, and adopted son Thomas Poirier, Jr. He was predeceased by his son David Andrew Deming and brother of Ronald Orson Deming and Henry Albert Deming.

His Mass was scheduled to be held on July 23, 2022 at Christ Church, New Haven.
