A New Call for Anne Marie Witchger ’17

The Rev. Anne Marie Witchger has been called to serve as Priest-in-Charge at the historic St. Mark’s Church in the Bowery parish, on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.

Witchger has served at Church of the Heavenly Rest in Manhattan since 2017, beginning as a part-time outreach coordinator while finishing seminary, after ordination as Assistant Rector focused on the reimaging and expansion of outreach ministries, and finally as Associate Rector and Chief of Staff. In this role she has been a member of the Church Plant Team for the Episcopal Diocese of New York, supported the expansion of Heavenly Rest’s program reach during the pandemic, and is currently co-chair of the planning committee for the consecration of the Rev. Matthew Foster Heyd as Bishop Coadjutor. 

After earning a master’s from Union Theological Seminary, Witchger received her Diploma in Anglican Studies from General in 2017 and a master’s in ministry in 2018. She received her B.A. in religion from Earlham College.
