A New Call for Tammy Young ’19

The Rev. Tammy Young, Class of 2019, has been called as Priest-in-Charge at St. John's Episcopal Church Little Silver, NJ. Although ordained a Priest in the Episcopal Diocese of NJ in 2019, Young has been serving the Church for over four decades.  She brings to ministry a life-long passion for Gospel justice, social advocacy, and Christian formation where she strives to help make God’s Word a reality in the daily lives of disciples of all ages.

Before entering General and graduating cum laude, Young served as the Director of St. Mark’s Center for Community Renewal, a daily feeding program and social service resource center in Keansburg, NJ which served over 6,000 monthly meals and countless hours of Christian fellowship to community residents.  There she was blessed to both build and work alongside an interfaith and community network of over 125 organizations – all come together to help God’s people better their lives through empowerment and support.   As the Center’s Director and forty-year veteran of Christian youth education, one of her greatest joys was helping young disciples use the image of God within themselves to see and to love the image of God within others.

Before being called to St. John’s in Little Silver, Young joyfully served as the Chaplain for Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.

In her spare time, Young enjoys studying Hebrew Scripture (she was a recipient of the Robert Denton Scholarship) and loving on her two housecats, St. Francis and St. Clare.
