Looking Ahead

As is our practice in the commentary, we do share the results of the Board meeting in several commentaries in the weeks following a Board meeting. The main themes that I wish to highlight today are the presence of the Board on the campus at Chelsea in New York and the Budget.

As it happens, the weather was perfect. Warm and sunny. Board members had the opportunity to tour the campus. Services were in the Chapel of the Good Shepherd. Dinner on Tuesday night was in Hoffman Hall (which must be one of the most striking venues in any Seminary). For some Board members, this was their first visit to the campus.

In terms of themes, budgets were a focus of both Boards. The financial environment is challenging. We have issued a press release this morning explaining a set of Board decisions for General Theological Seminary. Do please read the press release: it gives you a helpful sense of where we are now.

The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
The Dean and President of Virginia Theological Seminary and the President of General Theological Seminary
