The Rev. Amy Cornell, Class of 2012, has been installed as the new rector at Saint David’s Episcopal Church in Cranbury, NJ. Just the third priest to hold this position in the church’s history, Cornell celebrated her first Mass at Saint David’s on Sunday, June 4.

Cornell previously served as Priest in Charge/Rector at Grace-Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Mercerville, NJ since 2012. Prior to assuming her position at Grace-Saint Paul’s, she served as deacon of Saint Francis Church in Dunellen in 2012.

While earning her MDiv at General, Cornell served as a seminarian at Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church in Plainfield and later at Trinity Episcopal Church in Asbury Park. She holds a bachelor of arts in communications from Douglass College in New Brunswick. Prior to her ministerial pursuits, Cornell held managerial positions at Barnes and Noble Bookstores and Holiday Inn.

Saint David’s Church formed in 1967 when a group of residents from Cranbury, Hightstown and Princeton Junction started meeting to discuss how to better service this area of the Episcopal Diocese of New Jersey. Its first regularly scheduled Sunday service was held at Peddie Chapel in Hightstown on July 7, 1968. The Cranbury Church opened its doors in 1982.

The Rev. Lawrence D. Fish, Sr. was the church’s first rector, serving until his retirement in 2003. The Rev. Karin Mitchell was Saint David’s second full-time rector, retiring in 2019.
