IN MEMORIAM: Tom Eklo ‘04

The Rev. Thomas Eklo, Class of 2004, died peacefully on November 17, 2022 in the company of close family members. Eklo was a native Minnesotan, born and raised in Minneapolis. The priesthood was a second calling in life, having worked in the banking industry for almost 25 years.

Eklo most recently retired as the Rector of St. Nicholas in Richfield, MN. As a priest in the Episcopal Diocese of MN since 2005, is beloved by parishioners in the churches of St. Nicholas, as well as St. Matthew, Saints Martha & Mary, Epiphany, Gethsemane, & St. Jude's (Ocean View, HI), and many other congregations.

Preceded in death by his parents, Jewell & Ben Eklo, & sister, Karen Smuda, Eklo is survived by his spouse, Stephen Ingerson, daughter, Susannah Ingerson (Rhonda), 3 grandkids, Misael, Elian & Noelia Trejos Ingerson; brother, Mark Eklo (Debbie), sister Patti Wiens, brothers-in-law, Jerry Smuda, & Andrew Ingerson (Nancy), sisters-in law, Dena Jones, Kristine Foster (Richard), Cheryl Dietzel (Greg), nieces & nephews.

His passions were preaching, finding the sacred in everyday life and encouraging all people in using their gifts for ministry. He loved a good book, travelled to almost anywhere, and enjoyed hiking/biking and photography.

Funeral arrangements are pending for January 2023 at Church of the Epiphany, Plymouth, MN. Memorials suggested to Feed My Starving Children & Open Door Food Pantry.
