A New Call for John Perris ‘98

The Rev. Canon John D. Perris, Class of 1998, has been called to serve as Priest Incumbent of the Anglican Church of St. Michael and All Angels, Royal Oak, British Columbia. He has been serving as Canon to the Ordinary to the Bishop of the Diocese of New York since 2018, and previously served as the Rector of the Episcopal Church of Christ the King in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. 

Prior to his service in Frankfort, Perris served parishes in the dioceses of Southwestern Virginia, Massachusetts and Newark.  In those dioceses, he served as Assistant and Associate Rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Roanoke, Virginia; the Rector of Christ Church, Harwich Port, Massachusetts; and the Rector of St. James', Upper Montclair, New Jersey. 

He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History "with distinction" from Cornell University and a Doctor of Laws (J.D.) from the Yale Law School. Perris then practiced law in New York City and London, England, until he began his studies at General, from which he graduated cum laude.  After his ordination to the priesthood, he received the certificate of successful completion of the Church Development Institute’s two-year program in Congregational Development.
