Grass and events

Three times a week, we gather as a staff of GTS for fifteen minutes. Yesterday morning was interesting. There was an interesting exchange between Mr. Harry Soto and Ms. Kadine Madden over the potential conflict between protecting the grass and the need for events.

Harry is right that the grass needs some loving. In places, there is more mud than grass. And grass is one of the sheer delights of this campus. In a city, grass is precious; it is primarily found in the parks. Our campus is a significant half acre of grass. And we need to take care of it.

Kadine is also right that we need event income. Precisely because it is wonderful to have a lawn surrounding a Chapel and outside the amazing Hoffman Hall, there are wedding parties that need to use the lawn. So, it was good that Harry and Kadine agreed that the reseeding of the grass should take into accounts these events. Meanwhile, let us all do what we can to help the grass recover and stay away from the grass as we walk around the campus.
