The Start of a New Semester

Yesterday, the community of VTS gathered to start the new semester. At the start of the semester service, Carolyn Hart turned to me and said, "I love this - I love the Faculty procession". It was quite a sight. In addition, we had the privilege of singing a Sanctus setting which was commissioned by the Association of Anglican Musicians and composed by our very own Dr. Marty Wheeler Burnett. It added to the occasion.

Meanwhile at GTS, the community was reflecting on the hybrid residential week which finished last Friday. For these students, they were just boxes in a zoom class, now they were encountering the full person. The week was focused on preaching. And the reports from the students were very encouraging.

Making connections, making friends, allowing others to shape us - this is the gift of theological education which is done well. Welcome to a new semester everyone.
